About this deal

The Revopoint MINI is a blue light scanner. Whereas Revopoint’s previous 3D scanners, the POP and POP 2, used infrared scanning technology, the Revopoint MINI uses structured blue light to illuminate the target objects.

For the most detailed results, however, it is best to not do this immediately. Instead, choose the manually fusing option later. This will take more resources from your computer, but the results are worth it. Revopoint MINI has a scanning speed of up to 10 frames per second. With the help of upgraded intelligent algorithms, it can significantly reduce stitching errors in successive scanning. The integration of a proprietary chip allows MINI to directly output 3D data. The Revopoint POP 2 features two IR sensors, a Class 1 laser projector, and a high-resolution RGB sensor to deliver dual camera infrared structured light scanning. The IR camera and RGB sensors allows for color 3D scanning also on the Revopoint 3D scanner range. (Photo is of the Revopoint POP 2) With this technology, the MINI is able to scan at a speed of up to 10 FPS within a capture range of 64 x 118 mm. Revopoint has announced an impressive precision of up to 0.02 mm, and a mesh resolution of up to 0.02 mm (which basically corresponds to the distance between each point in the final mesh). What can you do with the MINI?It is an excellent solution for reverse engineering, jewelry design, and other applications where you need to scan small objects with high accuracy.

Once you have completed the scanning process, you can now export your model as a point cloud or mesh as a PLY or OBJ file. Once the turntable has completed one revolution, the 3D scanner has captured enough data to generate a decent first draft of the model. You can now pause the scan. The POP 2 and the MINI are both affordable structured light 3D scanners, but the POP uses invisible infrared rays while the MINI uses blue light. In a nutshell, infrared light is better for face 3D scanning cases since it doesn’t blind users, while blue light can be more suitable for capturing objects with higher accuracy. Furthermore, blue light is best used indoors whereas infrared light can provide good results both indoors and outdoors. The MINI also offers a smaller scanning area and reduced working distance, as it is designed for more professional applications where higher accuracy and resolution are required. As such, it offers a single-frame accuracy (lab-measured) of up to 0.05 mm, whereas the POP offers one of 0.1 mm. The Revopoint Mini has a High Accuracy mode, which creates a dense point cloud that can be easily aligned with other point clouds. One of the features of Revo Scan 5 is the ability to take multiple scans of the same model and align them together to create a mesh. Instead of scanning a model and pausing to reposition, this workflow involves taking several scans at different angles and aligning them together after reducing the number of points. Using this workflow resulted in a clean scan of the included demo model with no holes and a smooth and detailed surface.
